Bangkok Trip (17-21 Jan'07) Day 3

We decided to go to the Floating market at Damnoen Saduak on the 3rd day. We felt it is worth going for this Bangkok trip. We took a taxi which costed 600 baht for 4 persons. We didn't join the group tour that would cost 1200 baht per person. Arriving at the floating market, we rented a boat to go around the canal. The boat that we took was 400 baht per boat per person. The taxi driver told us that this is the student price. Normal price is 600 baht which I don't believe is true.

The boats are piled high with tropical fruit and vegetables, fresh, ready-to-drink coconut juice and local food cooked from floating kitchens located right on the boat.

You really need to know how to bargain and get a good price. I found that most of the price are much higher from the night market that we went the last 2 days. I have bought a pair of slipper with this lady at 100baht. The original price was 250baht. After we went back to Suam Lum Night Bazzar, we found out the the slipper only cost 50baht.

We stopped at the handicraft centre on the way back to town. You can see how a variety of wood carvings are made.

I have forgotten what this temple is called.

Suam Lum night bazaar food court.
